Indonesia is a dream destination for spotting endemic birds, and even close to the city you can already find an impressive variety of species. On our birdwatching tour in Yogyakarta, we explore a region with incredible biodiversity thanks to its unique mix of mountains, beaches, and lowland forests, all within reach of one city.
In just one day, we can visit a few key birding spots, perfect for casual nature lovers. But if you are a dedicated birder or wildlife photographer and want to experience the full range of habitats and species, we highly recommend a multi-day trip to discover everything Yogyakarta has to offer.
• Yogyakarta hotel pickup 6 am
• 1,5 hour drive to the first forest area
• Have a coffee and some snacks before we go search for birds and explore the different hides/areas
• Lunch
• Afternoon session in another area walking more or settle in one of the hides to get really close pictures/views
• Dinner (optional)
• Hotel drop off
• Optional extension of 2D/1N to photograph the rarest kingfisher in the world (2,5 hours by train/4 hours by car)
