Time to get up early and head deep into the pristine tropical rainforests of Central Java on an immersive Java Wildlife Tour. In search of four key primate species, including the endangered and endemic Javan gibbon, we explore one of the most biodiverse regions of the island. Traveling by local safari jeep, we learn about the majestic forest ecosystem, its ancient trees, and the wildlife that depends on this untouched habitat.
For lunch, we enjoy a locally prepared meal inspired by the forest itself, made with native plants and traditional Indonesian spices.
In the afternoon, the Java Wildlife Tour continues as we move to a nearby area in search of the elusive nocturnal Javan slow loris, along with additional bird species we haven’t yet encountered. A full day of rare wildlife encounters in the heart of Central Java’s wilderness.
Day 1:
• Yogyakarta hotel pickup at 11 am and drive to Pekalongan (around 4,5 hours)
• Arrive in the hotel, have dinner and take a rest
Day 2:
• Get up at 5.30am and drive 1,5 hour to the forest
• Drive/walk through the forest in search of Javan gibbon and other wildlife/birds
• Continue walking to the NGO basecamp
• Have a local snack and tea/coffee (the real wild luwak coffee!)
• Forest lunch
• Continue searching for other mammals/birds in another nearby forest
• Night session in search of nocturnal birds and mammals (optional)
• (Late) dinner
• Back to the hotel and get some rest
Day 3:
• After breakfast leave back to Yogyakarta
• Drop off at your hotel in the afternoon
